Cornell Notes
Cornell notes are a note taking method that is organized into two parts. On the right side of the page, students record main ideas, supporting ideas, and details. Then students record related key words or questions on the left side which will later serve as cue words for studying. It also provides students with a space for reflecting and making connections.
Steps:
1. Students read an assigned passage or listen to a lecture/watch a video.
2. Students record main ideas, supporting ideas, and details on the right hand side.
3. Students read their notes and create key words or questions based on the notes and record them on the left hand side.
4. Students summarize, reflect on, and make connections at the bottom of their page.
5. Students use these notes as a future study guide.
