Think-Pair-Share
The think-pair-share strategy allows students to brainstorm individually, with a partner, and in small groups. The strategy can be used to activate prior knowledge or to summarize and share new knowledge. This strategy encourages collaboration and allows students who are more comfortable in small-group settings to share their ideas as well.
Steps:
1. Students experience a text. (Listen to a lecture, view a presentation or video, read a selection.)
2. Students work individually to record their ideas. (list, map, diagram, etc.)
3. Students team with a partner to discus their ideas and add to their individually generated ideas.
4. Partners share the ideas with the whole class.
